ARKAMA (Kerries since 1972) A long established UK Kerry kennel still active & highly successful after all these years Home of 45 Champions and 4 World Champions, Crufts BIS winner 1979, Crufts Group winner 1985, Top Dog All Breeds 1986 - over the years many times Top Kerry, Top Puppy, Top Breeder, Top Kennel, Top Sire, Top Dam This longstanding very small select show kennel has a reputation for breeding happy, healthy Kerries with excellent temperaments. All live in the house as part of the family and I believe any more than than a small number of dogs would make it virtually impossible to give each my individual attention. Therefore sometimes after a show career is finished there may be an older Kerry available to a good home. Temperament is a major priority
Well bred quality puppies are occasionally available
Unlike 2007 & many other years, 2008 was a very quiet one for Arkama itself but I have been having a hugely successful time in the ring handling “English, Irish & International Ch Sharp’N’ Shocking at Irisblu” for good friends Dave and John (Saredon Terriers). We had a fabulous year taking her Champion title plus Top Kerry with 8 consecutive Challenge Certificates, 3 Championship show Group First placements, 1 Group second placing, 2 Group thirds and 1 Group fourth.
About myself:
During the 1960’s I owned and exhibited Arkama Airedale Terriers for 6 years, before being completely captivated and taken over by the Kerry Blues. I was involved with showing the Kerries for a few years before breeding my first litter in 1972. Since then I have bred approximately 28 litters, from which it can be seen Arkama is a small kennel in the true sense of the word . Championship show judge since 1982 in the UK and overseas. Secretary of Kerry Blue Terrier Association since 2000 Breed Council representative since 2001 Breed columnist for weekly top dog paper Dog World for over 18 years & still writing Models & painted articles of Kerries (and other Terriers) available or made to order
